Violin

Jane (Hyeonjin) Cho, one of the six finalists in the 16th Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 2022, began playing the violin at the age of 6. In 2006, she took up a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England where she studied with Professor Liutsia Ibragimova.

In 2012, Jane took up a place in the University of Music Performing Arts in Graz with Professor Boris Kuschnir. Her talent was recognized in 2011 when she was nominated as one of the most promising musicians by the esteemed Kumho Asiana group in Korea, leading to numerous acclaimed performances across South Korea.

In 2015, Jane was personally invited by Augustin Dumay to participate in a masterclass at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. This remarkable experience opened doors to the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she found guidance and inspiration under the mentorship of Augustin Dumay.

Since then she has participated in projects with distinguished artists and mentors such as Gary Hoffman, Miguel da Silva, Frank Braley and Pavel Vernikov. Notably, she was invited by the Kronberg Academy for the ‘Chamber Music Connects the World’ in 2016, performing alongside artists such as Gidon Kremer and Christian Tetzlaff. Wanting to pursue her passion for chamber music, Jane then went on to participate in the Seiji Ozawa Academy inSwitzerland under the mentorship of Nobuko Imai, Sadao Harada and Pamela Frank.

In 2019, Jane recorded her debut CD featuring the Debussy quartet, collaborating with the likes of Augustin Dumay, Miguel da Silva, andHenri Demarquette. The accolades continued in 2021 when she secured the 2ndprize at the 28th KBS KEPCO Music Competition in South Korea.

Having earned her Solo Violin Artist Diploma from the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the guidance of Augustin Dumay, Jane went ontostudy at the Royal College of Music in London, where she graduated with First Class Bmus (Hons) honors under the guidance of Mark Messenger and AlexanderGilman.

Jane has recently received her Masters of Music degree at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Professor Catherine Cho. Her artistry has been recognized, earning her an invitation to participate in the Four Seasons Festival in 2023, and her most recent collaboration includes working with Hilary Hahn as part of the ‘Who’s in the Lobby?’ series at TheJuilliard School.
