Jill Witten is a pianist and accompanist based in New York City and Stowe. She holds an M.A. in piano performance and taught piano in her private studio in Washington, DC for 30 years. She served as President of the Washington Music Teachers Association, and was an accompanist at the National Cathedral for thirteen years. A longtime fan of chamber music, she found many talented co-partners with whom to play upon moving to New York in 2003. After she and her husband built a vacation home in the Stowe area in 1985, she joined the Board of the Stowe Music Festival under conductor Alondra de la Parra.
In 2017 she reached out to the new Executive Director of Spruce Peak Performing Arts and became the co-founder, along with Sidney Stark, of the Spruce Peak Chamber Music Society with cellist Jia Kim as Artistic Director. As a result of outstanding performances, reaching out to many in the community through friendships, hotel concierges, donor parties and ads, a growing audience became avid supporters. Recently the Trapp Family generously offered us a new home in their beautiful lodge, for which we are very grateful. We look forward to the continuation of this endeavor as Chamber Music Stowe.
